Jaunt Abandons VR, Makes Big Cuts To Staff

Virtual reality studio and content producer Jaunt--which has a virtual reality content development effort in Los Angeles--said on Monday that it is "winding down" a number of its virtual reality products and content services, and switching its focus to augmented reality. Jaunt did not specifically say how the staffing cuts would impact its Los Angeles operations, where it had based "Jaunt Studios", its operations which was producing and distributing immersive virtual reality, augmented reality and mixed reality content. However, in a blog posting, Jaunt said it is "letting go of a significant portion of our staff." Jaunt's backers include Disney, Evolution Media Partners, and China Media Capital (CMC). Jaunt is based in San Francisco.
