San Diego-based JMAR Technologies said this morning that it has been granted a Phase I SBIR from the U.S. Army. JMAR will use the grant to develop a new sensor for remote detection of hazardous materials. The company is looking to develop a compact laser system capable of real-time spectrochemical hazard analysis for field deployment. JMAR is a developer of laser modules use for X-ray source generation, microscopy, and nanotech scale fabrication, along with spectrochemical analysis.
