Position Description

Position Description
    Engineer to help lead and develop a real-time avionics system for the B-1 Avionics System. 30% travel required.

Job Description:

The Senior Sales Consultant (SC) provides presales and post sales technical support to prospects and customers. The successful candidate will be a self starter, customer focused, process oriented person with an extensive background in data warehousing, software and/or hardware sales, database technology and project management. Excellent communication, presentation and team building skills are required. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 Lead technical discussions on data warehouse appliance technology (hardware, software, database, storage) in presales discussions and meetings. 
 Responsible for requirements gathering, customer expectation management and project management of presale proof of concept projects. Serves as primary point of contact for prospects and POC organization to resolve technical issues. 
 Develop proposed data warehouse appliance architecture and configuration for prospects. 
 Collaborate with customer team participants, POC team leads, account executive and engineering to assure project success. 
 Assist in management and coordination of appliance installations. 
 Develop strategy and project plan for migration of customer data to appliances, integration with ETL processes and integration with BI environment. 
 Serve as a technical resource at industry conferences and other marketing events. 
 Participate in RFI and RFP responses to customers. 
 Mentor partners and other SCs on company products by leveraging knowledge, expertise, leadership and inter-personal skills. 
 Understand competitive products such as Oracle, Teradata, Netezza, DB2, etc. 
 Understand products from business partners such as Informatica, Business Objects, Hyperion, MicroStrategy, SAS, etc. 
 Stay current in new technologies, as well as new opportunities to develop knowledge pertinent to the companyÂs goals 
 Contribute to the development and enhancement of the companyÂs methods, techniques, processes and practices.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

 Commercial experience with at least one major DWH or BI company such as Informatica, IBM (DataStage), Hyperion/Brio, Business Objects, Microstrategy, Cognos, Teradata, etc. in a Pre Sales/Sales Engineer capacity. 
 Proven pro-active leader and self-starter with the ability to drive decisions and consensus, and to resolve technical issues.
 Exceptional written and oral communication skills including the ability to write technical documentation.
 Experience in successfully conceptualizing and selling technical solutions to new clients.
 Ability to successfully manage multiple activities (presales, POC, implementation) for multiple clients simultaneously.
 Strong data warehouse background that includes data modeling, architecture, ETL development, BI development and project management.
 Excellent presentation skills and polished/professional demeanor. 
 Excellent project management skills. 
 8+ years previous consulting/project management experience, including software or hardware industry experience. 
 4+ years in computer software and/or hardware experience required. Previous experience in storage solution sales and implementation a plus. 
 DBA level skills in at least one major database (i.e., Oracle, Teradata DB2). 
 Expertise in SQL, stored procedures and user defined functions. 
 Strong Windows, Unix and Linux skills with experience in scripting. 
 Proficient in the use of ETL and/or BI tools. 
 Knowledge of Java, Java Script and Web servers a plus. 
 Expertise with MS Office, including MS Project and MS PowerPoint. 
 Self directed and a team player.
