Joymode Gets $3M To Let You Rent Stuff To Create Memories, Not Clutter

A new, Los Angeles-based startup, Joymode--founded by startup Joe Fernandez, who founded Klout--has raised $3M in funding, to help you rent all kinds of stuff to create experiences and memories, without the hassle and expense of storing and keeping things you only use every so often. According to Fernandez, Joymode is offering up a service which initially lets those here in Los Angeles rent everything they need to create lifetime memories--for example, a complete package of stuff you'd need to hold your own backyard movie night; or all the gear needed for a memorable camping trip; and a dozen other experiences. The funding came from Homebrew, along with Lowercase, Founders Collective, Collaborative Fund, TenOneTen, Slow, Sherpa, Scott Belsky and Emil Michael. The new startup--which has its own warehouse in Los Angeles, and is so far only available in the city--is currently in invite-only mode. The startup is aimed--as Fernandez describes it--at enabling access to products which help have those special moments with your friends and family, without having to own all of the stuff required.
