Monterey Park-based Kotura said this morning that it has licensed a portfolio of patents in the silicon photonics space from Bookham, a manufacturer of optical components, modules, and subsystems. The patentes cover design and manufacture of silicon waveguide devices and construction of multi-functional silicon chips. Kotura develops and sells integrated opto-electronic products for the optical communications industry, and was formed from the merger of Arroyo Optics and Lightcross in 2003. Bookham exited the optical components business last year.
