Language Weaver, SPSS Partner On Government Intelligence
Marina Del Rey-based Language Waver said this morning that it has partnered with predictive analytics software provider SPSS to provide a text-mining solution targeted at government intelligence. Language Weaver, a provider of statistical machine translation software, and SPSS said that the two companies would provide a data mining solution that uses Language Weaver's translation tools in conjunction with SPSS's linguistics-based text mining applications. Language Weaver's software is used to automatically translate languages which are difficult to translate, such as Arabic and Chinese. SPSS tools linguistically analyze translated text to extract key concepts. The new solution is targetd at government agencies, which face a need to rapidly translate massive volumes of foreign language text but face a shortage of skilled translators. The new tools provide a way for those agencies to analyze and screen those documents automatically.
