    LARTA Launches New Venture Fund

Larta Institute said today that it has launched a new venture capital fund, T2 Venture Capital, which will invest in startups spinning out of government and academia. The new venture capital fund will be headed by Victor Hwang and Greg Horowitt. The firm said that it has closed its inagural venture capital fund, T2 Venture Partners, L.L.C., but did not disclose the size of the fund. The new fund was raised from venture capitalists, CEOs, and other professionals. Larta Institute was originally formed in the early 90's in the wake of a widespread defense downturn in the Los Angeles area, to help spur new companies; the group has since focused on helping entrepreneurs, and has since moved its annual Venture Forum and focus to Silicon Valley.
