Levyx Lands $5.4M For Big Data Storage

Irvine-based Levyx, a startup developing data storage platforms specifically aimed at accelerating big data software and applications, has raised $5.4M in a Series A funding round, according to the company. The funding was led by OCA Ventures, and also included Amino Capital (formerly zPark Capital) and Sumavision USA Corporation, plus executives from EMC, SAP, and elsewhere. LEvyx said it has build a data engine called Helium, which specifically boosts the data access speeds for data from tools like Apache Spark. The company's founders are Reza Sadri and Tony Givargis.
