    Lindows Files for IPO


    San Diego-based Lindows (www.lindows.com) filed for an IPO this morning with the SEC, with WR Hambrecht and Roth Capital underwriting. According to the company's S-1 filing, the company is looking to raise up to $57.5M. The firm develops Linux-based desktop operating software. The company shows revenues of $2M in the year ending December 31, 2003, with a net loss for last year of $4M. The company's filings also show that the company spent nearly $3M in legal fees over the last two years defending itself from Microsoft litigation. Lindows is headed by Michael Robertson, one of the founders of MP3.com.
