Linspire, Canonical In Linux Deal
San Diego-based Linspire, developer of the Linspire Linux operating system distribution, and Canonical Ltd., which maintains the popular Ubuntu Linux operating system, said today that the two firms are in a technology partnership. The two companies said that Linspire will transition from Debian to Ubuntu as the base for the firm's Linspire and Freespire desktop operating system, starting with a release in Q1 of this year. Ubuntu will also include Linspire's CNR e-commerce technology in Ubuntu.
