Linspire Sells Laptop At Walmart.com
San Diego-based Linspire announced this morning that Walmart.com has released the $498 Balance laptop running the company's Linspire Linux operating system. The laptop runs with the Linspire operating system, Internet suite, and a full office suite. Linspire said that the laptop is the lowest-priced laptop currently on the market that includes both operating system and a Microsoft Windows-compatible office suite, which the company leverages from OpenOffice. The new machine featuers a 1.0GHz processor, 128MB of RAM, and a 14.1" LCD screen, and goes up against Walmart.com's current $548 Windows XP Home Edition based laptop. The Walmart.com has the Linspire-based laptop listed for delivery after December 29th.
