The massive, $103M funding round for Carpinteria-based Lynda.com might have been a surprise for some, except perhaps readers of this publication, who over the years have gotten a glimpse of the growth rate of the company in recent years. The firm--which said it has been profitable since 1997 in its announcement this morning--disclosed that it now has over $100M in annual revenues, and 400 employees. Much of that growth has been in the last three years, according to the numbers we've pulled from our coverage. Lynda.com has been one of the best kept secrets in Southern California's startup community, well known in its industry but practically unknown otherwise.
