Pasadena-based Materia, a company developing olefin metathesis catalyst technology for the chemical synthesis market, said Wednesday that it has licensed its platform to Eisai Co., Ltd., a Japanese pharmaceutical company. Financial terms of the license deal were not disclosed. Eisai has been granted a non-exclusive license to develop, and patent pharmaceutical compounds and related processes using Materia's catalysts and intellectual property. Materia is developing technology based on research from Robert Grubbs, a Nobel Prize winner at Caltech.
