MaxLinear Buys Broadcom's Wireless Backhaul Business

Carlsbad-based radio frequency and mixed signal integrated circuits developer MaxLinear said Monday afternoon that it has acquired the Wireless Infrastrcute Backhaul Business of Irvine-based Broadcom. MaxLinear said it woud pay $80.0M in cash for certain assets and intellectual property related to that Broadcom unit, which develops technology in the microwave, millimeter wave, and other 5G market areas. The business employed approximately 120 people, had had approximately $29.6M in revenues in calendar year 2015, according to MaxLinear.
