    McAfee Buys Foundstone For $86M


    Security software giant McAfee Inc. announced today that it is buying Irvine-based Foundstone for $86M in cash. Foundstone provides intrusion prevention software, as well as supporting consulting and education services. The company's products are provided both to enterprises in the form of a secure appliance, as well as installable software for small to mid-sized organizations. McAfee said that the company will sell the Foundstone Enterprise, Foundstone FS1000 appliance, Foundstone On-demand Service and Foundstone Professional TL, as it integrates Foundstone's products into its lineup. Foundstone was founded in 1999, and is backed by Motorola, Articon-Integralis, and others.
