Michael Terpin founded Marketeeria (www.marketeeria.com), the first platform connecting independent marketers with companies seeking marketing services, launched its first-generation platform in November 2015. Terpin is perhaps best known for starting another disruptive technology platform in the marketing sector: Marketwire (originally called Internet Wire), the first Internet-based press-release distribution network. Backed by Sequoia Capital and Hummer Winblad, Marketwire was sold in 2006 for $35 million and is currently one of the top three global company newswires.
Terpin also has run two global public relations firms: The Terpin Group, a top 100 agency which he sold to Financial Dynamics in 2000, and Transform Group, which also includes award-winning social media agency SocialRadius and has become the leading PR firm in the world in the digital currency sector. Terpin is also active in the bitcoin investment sector, including co-founding BitAngels, the first angel network for bitcoin companies, and bCommerce Labs, an incubator for consumer bitcoin and blockchain companies. He is also a partner at Flight VC, where he helps run the AngelList Bitcoin Syndicate with legendary super-angel Gil Penchina.
Terpin holds an MFA in Creative Writing from SUNY at Buffalo and degrees in Newspaper Journalism and English Literature from Syracuse University, where he serves as an advisor to its top-ranked Newhouse School of Public Communications and was inducted into its prestigious Wall of Fame in 2000. Terpin has spoken widely at leading technology and marketing conferences globally, including AdTech, CES, PRSA, Search Engine Strategies, South by Southwest, and TEDx Hollywood.
