    Microfabrica Scores $22.5M

Van Nuys-based Microfabrica, which micro-fabricates three dimensional micro-devices, said Thursday that the firm has raised $22.5M in a Series B funding. The round was co-led by Versant Ventures and Interwest Partners, and also included prior investors Draper Fisher Jurvetson, DynaFund Ventures, Chevron Technology Ventures, and Partech International. The firm said the funding will go to expand its products and capabilities in the minimally invasive medical device area. The company will also use the round for expanded production capacity. Warren Packard of DFJ, Michael Sweeney of Interwest, and Kevin Wasserstein of Versant Ventures join the board along with the funding.
