Microsemi Licenses Chip Encryption Tools

Aliso Viejo-based semiconductor maker Microsemi announced today that it has signed an intellectual property deal with Cryptography Research, Inc., for access to encryption technology and secure semiconductor intellectual property used to create tamper-resistant semiconductors. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. Microsemi said the deal gives it access to Cryptography Research's technology which make chips "significantly more" difficult to emulate, clone, or reverse engineer. Microsemi said the technology specifically helps it create extremely tamper-resistant semiconductors for certain government applications. Financial details of the licensing deal were not announced.
