Midnight Lights Up With $7.5M

Los Angeles-based gaming startup Midnight announced this morning that it has raised $7.5M in its seed funding round. The funding came from Shima Capital, blockchain platform Forte, gaming community SNACKCLUB, guild and mod platform Overwolf, plus the founders of gaming companies Illuvium and investors Woodstock Fund, FJ Labs, Bixin Ventures, among others. The company said its game designers include Chris Heatherly (most recently EVP Games for NBCUniversal and GM of Disney Mobile Games); Geoffrey Hunt (Star Trek: Fleet Command and Game of War: Fire Age); and Bill Roper (Disney Interactive Central Creative, Improbable), and that it was founded by gaming investment banker, CEO Steve Wade, and CTO Steven Spagnolo, former Chief Technology Officer at SoundCloud, Senior Director of Technology for King and founder of Blue Tongue Entertainment and Twiitch.
