Mobilecause Powers Haiti Mobile Charity Efforts

Los Angeles-based Mobilecause, a provider of mobile donation services for nonprofits, reported Wednesday that the firm is powering a number of mobile campaigns to raise money for victims of the Haiti earthquake. The firm said that cell phone users can text keywords to 85944 to donate $10 to the following charities using its service: International Medical Corps (keyword: Haiti); Causecast Foundation/Huffington Post (keywords: RESPOND, IMPACT, HUFF); Food For The Hungry (QUAKE), American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDCHAITI), International Relief and Development (REBUILD), ADRA (ADRA), World Help (GIVEHELP), and Samaritan's Purse (SP). The text messaging donations are are applied to mobile phone users' cell phone bills. Mobilecause is one of a small number of firms which provide nonprofits with a way to solicit and receive donations via mobile phone and SMS text messaging.
