Digital Orchid Gets Strategic Investment
San Diego-based Digital Orchid, a developer of real-time wireless applications, announced that it has received a strategic round of venture funding from Qualcomm. The amount was not disclosed. Digital Orchid has developed a number of applications based on Qualcomm's BREW wireless development environment. The company's software includes PitCommand, a wireless application targeted at NASCAR fans which gives real-time race information direct to cellular handsets. Qualcomm invests in companies which leverage its CDMA and wireless Internet technologies.
