Novatel Deploys 3G Cards In Singapore
San Diego-based Novatel Wireless, Lucent Technologies, and Singapore Telecommunications Limited (SingTel) said today that SingTel will begin offering 3G UMTS PC cards from Novatel Wireless and Lucent Technologies in Singapore. The new laptop cards allow wireless access at speeds of up to 384 kilobits per second using 3G cell networks, and are backward compatible with older GSM and GPRS networks. The card and 3G access is targeted at mobile professionals and businesses. SingTel is one of Asia's largest mobile phone operators, serving 56 million customers in Australia, India, the Phillipines, Singapore, and Thailand.
