San Diego-based DivX said today that Pentax has licensed its DivX technology for use in the Pentax Optio S6 digital camera. The deal is the first for the developer of coder/decoder technology for digital video. The camera incorporates DivX technology to allow the still camera to capture DivX format videos at full-screen VGA (640x480, 30 fps) quality. DivX licenses it technology to manufacturers of DVD players, software providers, and others as a way to highly compress video streams.
