Santa Monica-based Boingo Wireless is in a new partnership with Kineto Wireless, a provider of wireless technology using unlicensed spectrum, the two companies said Wednesday. The two will work together to provide full interoperability between Boingo's Wi-Fi software and Kineto's UMA wireless system. Unlicense Mobile Access is a standard for connecting mobile voice, data, and instant messaging over technologies such as Wi-Fi. The companies said that UMA technology can enable subscribers to roam and handover between cellular networks and public and private wireless LANs. Boingo operates a network of wireless access points.
