Newport Media Samples DVB Chips
Lake Forest-based Newport Media, a provider of semiconductors for the mobile media market, said that it is sampling its products for Digital Video Broadcasing-Handhelds (DVB-H) and high mobility Digital Video Broadcasting-Terrestrial (DVB-T) applications. The new chips are used by manufacturers of wireless handset and mobile digital TV. Newport is targeting the mobile television market with an integrated chip for receving digital video. Newport Media is backed by Benchmark, General Catalyst Partners, Oak Investment Partners, Global Catalyst, Pinnacle Ventures, and Venrock.
