Marina Del Rey-based CinemaNow and Sonic Solutions, a developer of media burning software, said today that the two are in a collaboration to allow consumers to legally burn entertainment onto recordable DVDs. According to the companies, CinemaNow will use Sonic's Qflix technology to encode video onto DVDs using the CSS encryption standard. CinemaNow will also provide its library of video content through Sonic's Roxio Venue movie download application. According to the companies, using Qflix means that titles burned onto DVD will have the same level of copy protection used on commercially, mass-produced DVDs.
