Santa Barbara-based Occam Networks announced Thursday that the firm has been selected by a New England telecommunications provider, FairPoint Communications, for a major broadband upgrade of its network. Financial impact of the deal was not disclosed. Occam said its equipment has been selected to upgrade FairPoint's network in Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. The equipment will be used for high speed broadband services delivery over both copper and fiber. The upgrade is planned as part of a yet-to-be-approved acquisition of Verizon's wireline business by Fairpoint. Occam Networks is a manufacturer of broadband access equipment.
