San Diego-based video codec provider DivX has signed on Cabot Communications, a provider of digital TV software, as the latest firm to add DivX technology to its offerings, the firm said Thursday evening. DivX did not disclose financial impact or terms behind the deal, however DivX said the move would allow Cabot's technology partners to include DivX support on such things as HDTVs, DVRs, and set top boxes. DivX licenses it digital video encoding and decoding technology to consumer electronic device manufacturers and others. Cabot develops digital video "middleware" used by digital TV manufacturers.
