RealGifts Links Into Facebook Expansion
A new effort by Facebook to expand their "Gift Shop" application to third party developers has roped in San Diego-based RealGifts as one of its first partners, according to reports this week. Facebook is apparently expanding its "Gift Shop" application--which allowed users on the social network to buy each other virtual gifts--to include products from American Greetings Interactive, GreetBeatz, Someecards, and Real Gifts. The deal with Real Gifts allows users to purchase real, physical gifts via the social networking site, which show up both as virtual gifts on their page as well as physical goods. RealGifts, which has received funding from the Facebook fbFund, has been providing its service on Facebook since July of last year. Gifts purchased to RealGifts app are gift wrapped and sent to users via the mail.
