Steamboat Ventures Boosts Playdom
Burbank-based Steamboat Ventures, the venture capital firm funded by Walt Disney Co., is one of the backers of Bay Area social gaming firm Playdom. According to Playdom, Steamboat--along with Bessemer Venture Partners and New World Ventures--have invested in the firm as part of a new, $33M venture capital funding round. The firm has now raised $78M in funding. Steamboat is active in investing in technology firms whose products are related to digital media and entertainment. Playdom is based in Mountain View.
