CODA Automotive Aims At Hawaii
Santa Monica-based CODA Automotive, the electric vehicle startup, said Thursday that it intends to distribute its CODA Sedan to customers in Hawaii in Q3 of 2011. According to CODA, the effort is part of an effort to support the Hawai'i Clean Energy Initiative launched by Hawaii Governor Linda Lingle. That initiative aims to have clean energy account of 70 percent of Hawaii's total energy needs by 2030. Hawaii has typically had higher gas prices than the rest of the nation, with the AAA reporting average prices in the last week of regular unleaded at $3.48 a gallon, compared with a national average of $2.68 a gallon for regular unleaded. For comparison, Los Angeles had an average price of $3.088 a gallon for regular unleaded last week.
