reports today that it has started shipping and installing its first residential smart charging systems for electric cars. The firm said it has began installing UL-listed chargers for both single family and multi-unit residences. Aerovironment's chargers are aimed at the elctric vehicle and plug-in hybrid market. No other details of the installations were given. Aerovironment said its smart charging sytsem include software and integration with utility It networks, supporting GPRS, Ethernet, WiFi, and Zigbee connections.
