Technicolor, the provider of services to the motion picture, television, and media industry, has backed a North Carolina technology firm developing video search and discovery products. Durham, N.C.-based
Digitalsmiths said that it has closed on $12.5M in a funding round, led by Technicolor, and including prior investors .406 Ventures, Aurora Funds, Chrysalis Ventures, Capitol Broadcasting and Cisco. Digitalsmiths provides video search and metadata technology for such companies as Warner Bros., Turner, The CW Network, Paramount, and Telepictures. Technicolor has its U.S. operations in Hollywood.
