Report: FTC Investigating Twitter Over UberMedia Actions
A report today says that the Federal Trade Commission is investigating Twitter, over its dealings with third party client application makers like Pasadena-based Ubermedia. The report says that the FTC has requested information from UberMedia and others. UberMedia is the Twitter client applications firm backed by Idealab, which suffered a near shutdown in February when Twitter shut off the ability to access Twitter to UberMedia's client apps. Twitter has since said it does not intend to let other develop client applications like its own, casting into doubt UberMedia's strategy of doing exactly that.
