San Diego-based PacketVideo, the former unit of Nextwave Wireless which was acquired by NTT DOCOMO, is suing hot online music streaming service Spotify, according to a lawsuit filed in the California Southern District Court in San Diego yesterday. PacketVideo appears to be suing Spotify over patent infringement, over a patent it holds covering the transmission of digital music information over a communications network. NextWave Wireless sold PacketVideo to DOCOMO in August of 2010. PacketVideo's software was used for streaing media to home consumer electronics devices. The lawsuit is PacketVideo Corporation v.
