MovieClips Gets $7M, Partners With YouTube
Venice, California-based MOVIECLIPS, the online provider of licensed movie clips headed by Richard Raddon and Zach James, is announcing today that it has scored $7M in a Series B funding round, and also partnered with Google to feature its clips on YouTube. The firm said that its Series B round came from MK Capital, as well as Shasta Ventures, First Round Capital, SoftTech VC, Richmond Park Partners, as well as angels, including Naval Ravikant, Jeff Kearl, Tom McInerney, and Allen DeBevoise of Machinima. MovieClips said its partnership with Google will feature more than 20,000 of its licensed clips in HD on the YouTube Movie Extras channel, as well as a MOVIECLIPS YouTube channel. Financial details of the partnership between Google and MOVIECLIPS was not announced. Mark Terbeek of MK Capital joins the firm's board, and MK Capital's Yair Landau becomes a board observer.
