Yowie, the online live chat service which has been providing live online chats with celebrities, is announcing this morning that it has expanded its platform to host group video chats for consumers. The site said it will allow friends, family, co-workers, and others to connect in video chats. Yowie had previously only been providing live video chats with celebrities. The service explained that it is looking to compete directly against Skype, Google Hangouts, and Tiny Chat with the new features. Among features of the group chat platform are tracking of reputation, ability to share multimedia content, categorized topics for chat rooms, experience points and badge awards, and more. Yowie is headed by Jamie Snider.
