SolarReserve Claims Major Milestone
Santa Monica-based SolarReserve, the developer of utility-scale, solar power plants, claimed today that it has met a major construction milestone at its Crescent Dunes Solar Energy Plant. The firm said it has completed the 540-foot, solar power tower for the project, which is located near Tonopah, Nevada. The solar thermal plant is expected to have a capacity of 110 megawatts. SolarReserve said the plant is expected to be operational by the end of 2013. SolarReserve's project there is using molten salt, solar thermal technology.
