Masimo, the developer of pulse oximetry devices, said today that it is acquiring substantially all of the assets of
Spire Semiconductor, a maker of light emitting diode (LED) and other components, which are used in biomedical applications. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. Masimo said that Spire Semiconductor will become part of a newly formed, wholly owned subsidiary called Masimo Semiconductor, which will be based in Hudson, N.H. The company said the acquisition will give it advanced ability to develop custom components, accelerate development cycles, and optimize future product costs.
