San Diego-based
Qualcomm is backing a developer of mobile video chat services,
Tango, via its Qualcomm Ventures arm, the two companies announced today. According to Tango, it has raised $40M in a Series C funding round, led by Qualcomm Incorporate, and also including Access Industries, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Michael Birch, Andy Bechtolsheim, Bill Hambrecht, and others. Tango develops a video chat service which lets users conduct video chats with their Apple iPhone or Android smartphone, and also provides free phone calls and video messaging. The firm is based in Palo Alto.
