A new, Los Angeles startup,
Stockr, is looking to connect the world of social networking with stock tips and trades, and recently has emerged in a private beta. The firm, headed by Vinny Jindal, provides a filtered stream of stock tips and disussions--tied into stock charts and quotes. Jindal was previously at Boston Millennia Partners and has also served at ThinkEquity Partners, Lehman Brothers, Wedbush Morgan Securities, and Origin Capital Management. Jindal's co-founder is Brendon Crawford, who has served at Disney/ABC, Paramount Pictures, Sun Microsystems, MySpace Music, and Chase Credit Card Systems. StockR looks to compete against Yahoo Finance and social stock discussion services like StockTwits.
