MSC.Software Executives Resign, Firm Names New CEO

Santa Ana-based MSC.Software, a developer of simulation software, said Thursday that its board of directors has named Ashfaq A. Munshi as the firm's interim CEO and President. The sudden move came after current Chairman and CEO, William J. Weyand, and the firm's President and COO, Glenn Weinkoop, decided to resign, the company said. Reasons for the resignations were not given. Munshi has been a director at MSC since September of 2006, and has served at Applied Materials, Silicon Graphics, and Oracle. In conjunction with the move, the firm also said that current board members Donald Glickman and Robert A. Schriesheim have become co-chairmen of the firm's board of directors, and that it has retained a search firm to find it a permanent CEO. Additional, MSC said it would split its Chairman and CEO roles, to further move its "governance structure toward current best practices."
