MySpace, MTV Gear Up For Presidential Candidates

Online social networking web site MySpace and MTV said today that the firm's first online Presidential candidate event will feature Senator John Edwards. The series of events, which will link Presidential candidates with questions from MySpace viewers, will be held at the University of New Hampshire, and allow both users on the MySpace social networking web site and MTV's web site to send in instant messaging questions to the candidates. According to MySpace, the Presidential candidate events are being powered by Flektor, the Culver City-based firm it acquired in May. MySpace will feature a new online polling widget from Flektor in conjunction with the event, allowing users to signal their approval/disapproval of a candidate. MySpace said that the kickoff event marks the first Flektor application since its acquisition by Fox Interactive Media.
