Nanogen Cuts Business Line, Staff

San Diego-based Nanogen said late Monday evening that it is planning to close commercial operations of its array business, and reduce its staff by approximately 20 percent. Nanogen, which manufacturers diagnostics equipment for the health care business, announced the move shortly before announcing a loss for the quarter. According to Nanogen, it had been looking for strategic alternatives for its array business since September. The firm did not disclose how many actual employees were affected by the move.
