Napster Featured in Microsoft Windows XP
Los Angeles-based music download service Napster said yesterday that it will be featured in Microsoft's just announced Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. Napster's digital music download service will be a featured service of the new software, which is Microsoft's foray into living room entertainment. Microsoft just launched the software, which is similar to other versions of Windows but adds a separate remote control interface for accessing digital music, video, and other online media. The software is targeted at creating a digital media hub for users and connecting consumer PCs with televisions and stereos through external devices. Many manufacturers are shipping the software bundled as Media Center PCs, which include TV tuner capability and remote wireless access to PC files.
