Napster Returns: Rhapsody Renames Itself As Napster

In another chapter in the brand-that-wouldn't-disappear, Napster, the music streaming service brand which, for awhile, was based in Los Angeles, is coming back -- this time, as a rebrand of Seattle-based streaming music service Rhapsody. Rhapsody said on Tuesday that it will rebrand as Napster sometime this Summer. Napster was in Los Angeles until it was split between Rhapsody and Best Buy back in 2011 in a sale, having moved to Los Angeles when prior owner Roxio acquired the Napster name in 2004 and moved the headquarters for that business to LA--all of that, after the illegal music download service which originally was Napster was driven out of business by lawsuits from the music labels.
