Nettle Gets $500K From Google, Others

La Jolla-based Nettle, a semi-stealth mode firm which says it is creating a "next-generation social/local/mobile application and website for the global entertainment market", has raised $500,000 in a seed funding. According to the firm, the round was led by Google Ventures, and also included Advancit Capital, 500 Startups, and angel investors including former executives of eBay and Qualcomm. The firm was co-founded by Brian Dear and Dan O'Neill. Dear was the founder of Eventful; O'Neill has served at and Vivendi Universal, and was co-founder of Trusonic. More information »
