Chatsworth-based MRV Communications has announced a new line of Multi-Rate Dual Transponders. The company's new line of products provides highly integrated modules for optical connectivity. The new products are designed for high speed networks such as Gigabit Ethernet, FDDI, ESCON, SONET, Fibre Channel, and other protocols.

eMachines Rolls Out 2004 Desktop PC Line
Irvine-based eMachines (www.emachines.com) has rolled out its latest line of desktop PCs for 2004 at CES. The company's top PCs are based on AMD Athlon XP processors, and are focused on multimedia performance. The company's entry level systems are now based on Intel Celeron 2.8 Ghz and 2.6 Ghz processors.

Archos Announces 20G MP3 Player

Strix Adds Ungermann as Chair
Westlake Village-based Strix Systems (www.strixsystems.com) has appointed Ralph Ungermann as chairman. Ungermann was a co-founder of Zilog, and has most recently been chair of First Virtual Communications. Strix is developing wireless network systems.
