iRise Taps Online License Firm
El Segundo-based iRise (www.irise.com) has selected Intraware to provide it with online delivery of its software and licenses to its customers. Intraware will provide electronic delivery of iRise software, along with 24/7/365 access to archives of software and licenses. iRise provides software simulation technology for designing web applications prior to development.

Tanner Launches Layout, Verification Software
Pasadena-based Tanner EDA (www.tanner.com) has launched a new line of layout and verification software for integrated circuit designers. The company's HiPer Verify product offers background design rule checking, enabling designers to improve their designs and efficiency while their designs are being checked for accuracy. Tanner develops layout, verification, and simulation software for analog, mixed-signal, MEMs, and optical circuit design.

Parasoft Lands Countrywide
Monrovia-based Parasoft (www.parasoft.com) has landed a division of Countrywide as a customer of its Jtest error prevention software. Countrywide's Servicing Systems Development division will use Parasoft's product to improve software quality. Parasoft's software performs static analysis, unit testing, and regression testing of Java software.

Warner Bros Sets Up Interactive Division
Burbank-based Warner Bros. Entertainment announced that it is creating a new division exclusively focused on Interactive Entertainment. The studio has named Jason Hall SVP of the unit. WBIE will be focused on interactive entertainment for all of Warner's brands. Hall joins from Monolith Productions.

3D Displays Become Reality
Support for 3D displays is becoming reality, although the cost is still expensive. Companies like Santa Monica-based DDD group are helping to mature the industry by providing the software and hardware to translate 2-D images onto 3-D capable displays. 3D displays emit light at slightly different angles, making it possible for a viewer's eyes to see slightly different images and providing a 3D effect.
