Rockwell Scientific Ships Low Noise Amp
Thousand Oaks-based Rockwell Scientific (www.rockwellscientific.com) announced that it has introduced a Ka-band low noise amplifier for 33 to 36Ghz operation. The new component is designed for use in military radar and communications systems, as well as VSAT terminals, point-to-point and point-to-multipoint digital radio and wireless LANs. The parts are available both in commercial and MIL-spec versions.

eMachines Announces 64-Bit Widescreen Notebooks
Irvine-based eMachines (www.emachines.com) has entered the 64-Bit wireless widescreen notebook market with a new line of Athlon-based notebooks. According to the company, the notebook line will features 15.4-inch widescreen displays, wireless connectivity, and Mobile AMD Athlon 64 procesors.

TransDimension Licenses USB Technology to NEC
Irvine-based TransDimension (www.transdimension.com) has licensed its USB technology to NEC Electronics. The company's USB technology will be incorporated in NEC's 3G cell phones. The technology will be used to connect NEC's phones to digital cameras, PDAs, and other computer peripherals.

Avexus Finds Additional $1.2M
San Diego-based Avexus (www.avexus.com) has closed a Series B round of $9.7M. Funding came from Red Rock Ventures and Centre Palisades Ventures. Laura Brege of Red Rock will join the board. The extension of its round follows the announcement of the original Series B closing of $8.5M in November. Avexus is developing software for enterprise asset management and enterprise resource management, focused on helping manufacturers plan and manage maintenance and manufacturing.
